Let me set the scene for you. Go Eun-sae is this razor-sharp prosecutor working Seoul’s Anti-Corruption unit — the kind of woman who introduces herself with her full title and department, no small talk, all business. She’s got the car, the confidence, the whole “don’t waste my time” energy. And then, bam, accident, total memory wipe, and she wakes up in some tiny countryside town called Gujin. Famous for taffy shops. Taffy. From prosecuting corruption cases to a town whose whole identity is candy. I can’t.

And okay, side note for anyone not fluent in Korean — “yeot” is the candy, sure, but “yeot gatda” is also what Koreans mutter under their breath when something goes wrong, and it is not a compliment. So this entire village’s whole identity is built on a word that doubles as a curse. I don’t know if that’s an accident or the writers being extremely petty on purpose, but either way, incredible.

And waiting for her in this town is a boxing coach. In sweatpants. Claiming — very casually, like it’s not a big deal at all — that he’s her boyfriend.

She does not believe him. Obviously. I don’t either, not yet, and I’ve only seen 54 seconds of this thing.

Here’s what actually got me though, and it’s not even the amnesia setup itself, because let’s be real, we’ve all seen that plot before. It’s the tone shift. The teaser opens sharp, cold, procedural — very much “I have a badge and no patience” energy. And then the second she lands in Gujin, it just flips. Warm lighting, chaotic small-town comedy, everyone in the village apparently already has an opinion about her. That contrast alone is doing so much heavy lifting for how much I want to watch this.

But okay, the part I genuinely cannot stop thinking about. There’s this one quick cut in the trailer — barely a second, easy to miss if you blink — and I recognized the face instantly: Heo Sung-tae. Playing a crime boss named Baek Sang-gil. Now, he’s barely in the teaser. Like, blink-and-you-miss-it barely. But the way it’s cut in, right after one of Eun-sae’s flashback moments? That doesn’t feel like random background texture to me. That feels intentional.

So here’s my theory, and I’m fully aware I’m building an entire conspiracy off of one trailer, but whatever, let’s go: whatever case Eun-sae was working on before she lost her memory is the actual reason she ended up in this specific, random, taffy-famous town. That’s not bad luck. That’s a cover story that went sideways somewhere, and I think the show wants us to notice it early.

Which leaves me stuck between two theories about Tae-ha, the boyfriend. Either he genuinely has no idea who she really is and he’s about to get pulled into something way bigger than “help the amnesiac lady adjust to village life,” or — and this is the one I keep coming back to — he already knows exactly who she is, and this whole boyfriend act is him protecting her from something specific.

Anyway. I’m going to be thinking about this for the next three weeks until it actually drops.

Okay wait, should I even say this? It’s probably nothing, but — I swear I caught something in that trailer nobody’s talking about yet.
